At the moment ATINA is organizing the III ATINA International Festival - Schoolyard Stories- Theatre for adolescents.
10 productions for adolescents will be presented as a result of a three year program developed with the aim of creating a new theatre for this target audience in our country and region (Argentina, Latin America).
All of the adolescents talk about their lives, their concerns, their expectations, their interests, and plays have been created based on these conversations after research done in Secondary schools. Since some of the productions are about really rough subjects, after each presentation there will be an open debate coordinated by psychologists or other social service professionals. So will have not only an artistic encounter but also a social one.
There are few productions for adolescents in our region at the moment, so we hope this project (and specially the Festival) will encourage young people, and also teachers and parents to go to the theatre and to find these productions to be representative of their lives.
This is the first step of a big challenge.
Perhaps some of you wouuld like to comment what happen with theatre for adolescents in your countries or cities.
